I Corinthians 4

This morning I read I Corinthians 4, and I really need help here.  It seemed to me that Paul was saying many proud things, “Look at me; live like me … I have suffered greatly for God … I am your spiritual father.”  I need guidance on this.  It just seems that in the midst of rebuking the pride of the Corinthians, he is demonstrating his own pride.

And yet I know I must be wrong about this, because it is in the Bible.  It is God’s word of example to us, telling us how we should live.  So where is the difference?  How do I imitate Paul without acting prideful?
